The Challenge
The client needed to coordinate a fast move for their 91-year-old mother from independent living to assisted living within a large senior community.
Once a room became available, the move needed to happen quickly, leaving very little time to plan or organize logistics.
Additional complexity included:
- Coordinating a move within a large facility with specific logistics
- Managing a time-sensitive transition process
- Executing the move during a major snowstorm
Does this sound like your situation?
The Approach
We started by reassuring the clients son that he would not have to manage the logistics. We would handle everything: finding and coordinating the mover, arranging donations and junk removal, researching and securing a storage unit, returning cable equipment, packing their current home, and unpacking and setting up the new apartment. We even made sure their overnight bags were ready with what they needed the night before the move.
Key elements of the approach included:
- Responding quickly to secure the project under tight timelines
- Leveraging prior experience with the same senior living community to streamline logistics
- Structuring the process into dedicated packing and move-in days
- Providing consistent communication and availability, including evenings and weekends
- Handling all belongings without requiring the family to sort or manage items
The Result
- The move was completed smoothly despite weather challenges and tight timelines.
- All belongings were packed, moved, and unpacked without loss or damage. The process was organized and efficient, with no major issues or delays.
- The team demonstrated professionalism and care, especially when working with an elderly client. Staff were described as kind, helpful, and hardworking.
- Most importantly, the end client was happy with the final result and how her new living space was set up.
